Question for Daniel Fast, Day 11

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:12

So of course life suddenly becomes irreducibly busy as we get further into this fast. Distractions, distractions. One after another, it seems. So today I have time to ask a question...or perhaps a short series of them. Please ponder them.

Are there things pressing on you this week? Are things making you irritable, despairing, angry, bringing you to bicker with others, lose your sense of God's presence? Be honest. Are you having a hard time getting to your own devotionals?

Then you are doing the fast correctly. When we seek God, He will stir things up. And Satan will not just sit back and let you get closer to God without a fight on his behalf, either. Fasting does not make it easier, at least initially. Fasting brings out the spiritual warfare that you are normally numb to.

So last question: Are you humbling yourself in the process? Are you choosing to submit yourself to those around you that seem to be derailing your efforts, or are you engaging them at the level of flesh? Remember, they are not the enemy.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." I Peter 5:6
