And The Votes Are In

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." (1Tim 2:1-3)

So the country has spoken and, save for the most liberal bastions in the nation, the message has been clear - fiscal responsibility and smaller government are the voters' primary concern. Big government programs and co-opting of the private sector cannot continue.

However, where is the righteousness? Are we righteous who are smart only with our money? What are we doing about the major moral issues of the day? And this is why we must continue to pray for our country's leaders. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." (Ps. 33:12)

We can no more expect lasting prosperity by ignoring our personal and corporate righteousness than we can by ignoring fiscal responsibility. They are a package deal.
